The city of Philadelphia is entering the Green Phase of reopening on Friday, June 26th, which allows businesses to reopen and operate at up to 75% capacity, with salons, barbershops, restaurants and casinos set at 50% and often by appointment only. As you begin to prepare to reopen your office or store location, you may want to take extra precautions to ensure your employees and any customers who may enter your facility are kept healthy and safe. AFC Urgent Care Northern Liberties is offering return-to-work COVID-19 testing for employees and local businesses in neighborhoods across Philadelphia, including Northern Liberties, Fishtown, Olde Kensington, Center City, Old City and Fairmount.

What tests are available for COVID-19 and return-to-work testing?
There are two types of tests available to detect a current or past case of COVID-19. Results will be available in 2-5 days depending on current lab capacity and the number of tests requested. The tests are performed via a swab or blood draw.
Diagnostic testing can detect the presence of the active COVID-19 virus. It is performed by taking a swab sample of the lower nasal cavity, taking only a moment with no pain to the patient. Swab tests are available for employees who have not been tested before or have previously tested positive for the virus. The return-to-work test must be performed at least two weeks after the patient’s previous positive swab test. For return-to-work testing, the patient must be symptom and fever-free for at least three days.
Antibody testing is performed by taking a blood sample from an asymptomatic patient to detect a past infection with COVID-19. The test is designed to detect the presence of antibodies in the blood, an immune response developed after exposure to the virus. Patients must be asymptomatic for at least fourteen days prior to testing. A negative test indicates no exposure, though the patient may have been exposed in the previous ten days without time to develop antibodies. Antibody testing is beneficial for employees of residential businesses including nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Results are returned within three days depending on laboratory capacity.
